MISSION EMPHASIS FOR JANUARY: Sierra Service Project
The high school mission team has been attending the Sierra Service Project for the last 7 years. SSP takes teenagers to different Native American Reservations throughout California, Idaho, Nevada, and Arizona for week-long mission trips repairing homes during the summer. This year, the team will be attending the "Urban" Site in South Los Angeles where they will be repairing homes and also learning about the homeless situation that South LA faces. Your contribution to this mission helps pay for the three van rental fees. There are 20 spots available for high school youth to fill, please speak to Amy Ochoa to sign up your teenager for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Food emphasis fOR the Month
This year the Missions Committee has elected to designated a specific food each month to be provided to the Salvation Army. We are starting off the year with macaroni and cheese, of course other items are welcome as well. Please place your items in the blue bucket in the Narthex and they will be taken to the Salvation Army.
JANUARY YOUNG ADULT MIXER
This Friday the 14th college-aged persons to age 35ish are welcome to come on out to Sierra Lanes Bowling! Bring $12 cash for your two games and a shoe rental. Prizes go to best team, best losing team, best all around bowler and best all around loser. Games begin at 6:00 pm. Please let Amy know if you plan to attend so she can reserve the right amount of lanes.
UNITY OF FRIENDS
If you have been looking at the flyers for the Unity of Friends Christian Women's Conference here, in Ridgecrest, at the Kerr McGee Center, on January 21 and 22, and thinking I wish I could go but I can't since I don't have the money budgeted, please contact Laura Lei Miller at 375-1988. The UMW Friendship Circle would like to help you out. We don't think cost should prevent you from enjoying this event. The speaker is wonderful, the fellowship is great, and our Lord is amazing! Come join us at the conference!
Albertson's One Cent Promotion To End
