CALL TO WORSHIP              Isaiah 49.1-5, 10                           Hazel Hensley

One   I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry.

Many HE LIFTED ME OUT OF THE PIT; HE SET MY FEET ON A ROCK,

AND GAVE ME A FIRM PLACE TO STAND.

One   He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.

Many MANY WILL SEE AND BE AWE-STRUCK, AND PUT THEIR

          TRUST IN THE LORD.

One   Blessed is the man or woman who makes the Lord their trust,

Many WHO DOES NOT LOOK TO THE PROUD, TO THOSE WHO

          TURN ASIDE TO FALSE GODS.

One   Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders You have done. The things

          You planned for us, no one can recount to You;

Many WERE I TO SPEAK AND TELL OF THEM, THEY WOULD BE TOO

          MANY TO DECLARE.

One   I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak openly of your

          faithfulness and salvation.

Many I DO NOT CONCEAL YOUR LOVE AND YOUR TRUTH FROM

          THE GREAT ASSEMBLY. AMEN.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,

What Is Epiphany?

Epiphany is the Christian celebration of the appearing of Christ,

from the Greek word epiphanes which means “appearing.”

The key Christian symbol for this celebration is light, as in John 1.9:

“The true light that gives light to every person was coming into the world.”

And the emphasis of the Epiphany season is on missions.
