MISSION EMPHASIS FOR JUNE: HEIFER PROJECT
The Heifer Project International provides animals and related assistance to families and communities in need, to help them produce food and income on a long-term basis. Through the years, we have provided enough money to complete two Arks at $5,000 each. We are presently working towards providing the Heifer project with Camels. Camels are very useful animals. They are used to carry firewood as well as plowing the land. Camels can also provide milk. Our Sunday School is currently raising money to buy three camels. As of June 5 we have $1,238.53 towards our goal of $2,550.00 for 3 camels by Epiphany 2012.
Food fOR the Month
This year the Missions Committee has decided to designated a specific food each month to be provided to the Salvation Army. The food item for June is cans of tomatoes. Of course other items are welcome as well. Some of the items that are always needed for the food pantry are: peanut butter, jelly, crackers, macaroni & cheese, canned vegetables, soup, top ramen, and tuna. Please place your items in the blue bucket in the Narthex, and they will be taken to the Salvation Army.
UMCOR TORNADO RELIEF
UMCOR Tornado Relief has been designated for those caught in the paths of the tornadoes in the United States. UMCOR has assigned Disaster Response—United States Advance Number #901670.
